Dr. Lori Martin, DVM
Owner and Veterinarian
Dr. Martin was born in Spain during her father's deployment there, and came to San Diego when she was one year old. She grew up in San Carlos and graduated from Patrick Henry in 1983. She attended UC Davis and received her BS in Zoology in 1989 and her doctorate in veterinary medicine in 1994. After returning to San Diego, Dr. Martin worked in a five-doctor practice in El Cajon for 11 years (3 years as an associate, 5 years as hospital director, and 3 years as medical director).
Dr. Martin realized her dream of owning her own hospital in April of 2006 when she established Cuyamaca Animal Hospital. One year later, she opened her luxury boarding facility, Furry Friends Resort.
Stephanie was born and raised in El Cajon. Her lifelong passion for animals made her a natural for the veterinary field. She trained as a Veterinary Technician years ago at a large practice in El Cajon where she met Dr. Martin and many of our staff. After honing her skills, Stephanie left that hospital to manage a large boarding facility in East County. When Dr. Martin opened Furry Friends Resort in 2007, Stephanie was the obvious choice to manage it. She has established the resort as a vacation destination for your cherished pets.
Stephanie had the most loving, handsome, defiant, fearless and feisty Jack Russell that ever lived named Dexter. Dexter was an adorable and adventurous pup who was constantly by her side and loved life...hunting critters, digging, going for walks and throwing fits when he didn't get what he wanted. He recently lost his battle to kidney disease, but he forever lives on in Stephanie's spirit and love for all of the other dogs that visit us at Furry Friends Resort. RIP little Dexter.
Stephanie's career goal is to, you guessed it, manage Furry Friends resort for forever! She cannot imagine working anywhere else! We're so lucky, aren't we?
STEPHANIE'S FAVORITE PART OF WORKING AT FURRY FRIENDS
Animals love unconditionally. I have more dog and cat friends than I do human friends and am blessed to be able to work with them every day. Going to work is like therapy for me.
STEPHANIE'S PET CARE TIP FOR PET OWNERS
When your days are busy and you think they can't get any more hectic and all you want to do when you get home is relax, do something fun with your dog or play with your cat. Remember to love on your pets every day & be thankful for what they mean to you.
Resort Assistant Manager
Hayley has been with Furry Friends Resort for three years now - aren't we lucky!?
Hayley is Stephanie's little sister (the youngest of five siblings) and has always wanted to work with animals since she was little. She worked in the restaurant business prior to working at the resort. As soon as a spot opened up for employment in 2016, we knew she would be a perfect addition to the team. She loves dogs, but her true love and passion is for cats. Hayley is on a mission to pet and love every cat she possibly can. She has two twin tortoiseshell kitties named Sariah and Marley that she adopted from the shelter who both have opposite personalities despite them being littermates. She also has an adorable cocker spaniel named Lucy Diamond. Hayley enjoys shopping and spending hours petting and playing with her cats.
In her free time, she loves going to the beach, cuddling with her cats, and watching Netflix.

Kiera's been with Furry Friends Resort for two years now - and we're so lucky to have her! We met Kiera through her mom, Kelly, who was working at Cuyamaca Animal Hospital. Kiera’s mom has worked in the animal field for 9 years and Kiera has been quick to follow in her footsteps. Kiera has been working with animals since 2014 and has also started her career in grooming. She has always loved animals and has cared for dogs, cats, rats, horses, & chickens. Kiera spends her free time painting, drawing, watching stand-up, & playing video games.
She has a cat named Raja, who thinks she’s a dog, plays fetch, gives endless kisses and love cuddles more than anything.

KIERA'S PET CARE TIP FOR PET OWNERS
Confidence is key, if animals feel you’re uneasy or stressed, they will be as well.
Christy's been with Furry Friends Resort since summertime 2019 and she's been a wonderful addition to the team! Christy has been working in the pet industry for several years now and is also a certified veterinary assistant from PIMA Medical Institute and is currently attending Mesa College to become a certified Vet Technician. Her big goal? She wants to become a DVM and work with all kinds of wildlife, preferably in South Africa.
She has a 2-year-old Golden Retriever named Bubbles, who has a bubbly personality & loves to give sloppy wet kisses to everyone.
Outside of work, Christy loves to take Bubbles to dog beach every chance she gets. You can also count on her for book recommendations as she LOVES to just sit and read a good book or two. Fun Fact: She was born in Japan into a military family, so she's travelled a bunch and still wants to travel more! She's also a big Harry Potter fan and loves going to Universal Studios!

Love unconditionally! All animals do, so let’s return the love.
Sherri began working at Furry Friends since Christmas, 2018 and we're so grateful for her addition to the FFR family! Sherri was raised on farm and grew up around lots of animals! She spent her career in different animal and people caregiving, and she was so happy to get back into the caring of our pets here at Furry Friends. She specializes in our overnight care, providing love and cuddles to those whom we know miss their families.
She has a Pitbull/Chow mix named Chelsea, who's definitely a momma's girl! Sherri saved her from a bad home when she was only 4 weeks old and has been a part of the family ever since. She also has a Golden named Buddy who has a HUGE heart and is compared to Elf from the movie because he's so full of love and life! She also has a grandpup, named Lucy. She's a Cocker Spaniel who keeps the family on their toes with her childish ways and princess attitude!
Sherri hopes to start a non-profit here in San Diego dedicated to bringing together dogs and elderly Alzheimers/Dementia patients. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family. She enjoys going on mountain picnics, hiking by waterfalls, gardening, and biking on the sand at dawn!
SHERRI'S FAVORITE PART OF WORKING AT FURRY FRIENDS
I love seeing the spark in the pets' eyes when you earn their trust and reach their hearts. I find it a challenge to reach out to those in need, especially those that miss their families the most while in our care. Those are the best unconditional truths there are. Eyes don’t lie!
SHERRI'S PET CARE TIP FOR PET OWNERS
Look deep into their eyes...their eyes do have a story to be told...you just have to have the time to feel it, grasp it and respond to it.

MARY'S PET CARE TIP FOR PET OWNERS
Dogs are pack animals. They need to be a part of your family, so love them, and include them in as much as possible. They also have a much higher energy level than we do, so give them plenty of exercise!
Rhiannon is brand new at Furry Friends and couldn’t be happier! She has grown up with all kinds of animals for as long as she can remember - anything and everything from reptiles, birds, and fish! Working at Furry Friends is a total dream come true for her, as she’s wanted to work with animals since she was a very small child. In her spare time, Rhiannon enjoys painting, spending days at the zoo, and doing gymnastics. Previously, before quarantine, Rhiannon had an internship with Living Coast Discovery Center in Chula Vista. She had the opportunity to help with the husbandry for the large birds of prey, like hawks, eagles, and owls. In the future, Rhiannon plans to attend an exotic animal training program for zookeepers.
At home, Rhiannon has four dogs that range in size. They include a Great Dane, Sheepdog mix, Husky, and Pomeranian and she loves the chaos that they bring along!

MIKAELA'S FAVORITE PART OF WORKING WITH FURRY FRIENDS
Furry Friends truly cares about your pet. I would trust my Wilson with no one else while I'm away and I'm lucky to have found them.
MIKAELA'S PET CARE TIP FOR PET OWNERS
Dogs feed off of our energy. If you're stressed with them, they'll feel it and act out even more. It's okay to be frustrated with your puppy, especially if they're going through a behavioral problem, but know that they are trying their best and they don't understand what's going on. They are not doing anything to spite you. They just need some help!
